Carla doesn’t just work with hair. She understands it. Her approach to barbering is rooted in experience, patience, and a deep respect for the craft. As a senior barber at Vo2Max Family Barber in Rietvalleirand, her reputation is built on consistency, precision, and genuine care for the people who sit in her chair. But her journey began long before titles and qualifications.

Born in 1981, Carla was introduced to the world of hair at the age of 12, when she started working in her aunt’s hair salon. What began as a way to earn extra pocket money quickly became something more. She started at the bottom, cleaning floors, preparing stations, and assisting wherever needed, learning early that mastery comes from understanding every part of the process.

Between the ages of 12 and 21, Carla spent nine formative years immersed in salon life. As trust grew, so did her responsibilities. She progressed to washing and blow drying hair, then moved on to perming, colouring, and styling. More importantly, she discovered the power of transformation, how the right haircut could change the way someone feels about themselves. That feeling stayed with her.

While completing her GED studies, Carla never stepped away from barbering. She continued cutting hair wherever she could, including for lecturers and professors, refining her skills and confirming what she already knew. This was not a side interest. It was her calling.

At 21, Carla committed fully to barbering as her career. From that point forward, she has built over 24 years of professional experience, grounded in discipline and a strong work ethic. She earned her Red Seal qualification in Hairdressing, a nationally recognized milestone that confirmed her technical ability and professionalism.

Over time, her passion naturally shifted toward men’s grooming and barbering, where precision and detail matter most. Carla spent more than 11 years at Barber SA, serving as Head Barber and Manager, where she developed not only elite cutting skills but also leadership, mentoring, and operational expertise. She later moved on to Garry Rom South downs in a managerial role, further strengthening her experience in high end client service and team management.

Today, Carla brings 33 years of industry exposure to Vo2Max Family Barber, combining early hands on learning with decades of professional mastery. She currently holds her Red Seal in Hairdressing and is completing her next chapter by pursuing an International Master Barber Qualification Diploma, which will grant her international recognition as a Master Barber in male barbering.
